How do you configure VRRP on Comware?
Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol provides end devices alternate default gateways without having to be configured for them. With VRRP, a end device continues to speak to the same MAC Address discovered during ARP resolution, because of the Virtual IP (VIP) configuration in VRRP.
Configuring VRRP requires knowledge of the Layer 2 network layout since the Spanning Tree (STP) roots are where the VRRP VIP’s should be anchored. This solution reduces the chances of inefficient traffic flows that can delay and overuse links by hairpinning the traffic to the proper gateway.
The example below shows the network prior to VRRP configuration. The DHCP server on the left will be configured with scopes pointing the end users to 10.1.X.2 or 10.1.X.3. If either of the 5800’s go down those end devices will not be able to route off their respective subnets.

So we use VRRP to avoid the loss of default gateway to the end users, we change the DHCP scope to have the gateway at 10.1.1.1 and with priorities can use both gateways to handle different VLANs routed traffic.

So in summary, we configured Comware 5800’s to provide redundant default gateways to multiple VLANs with load-balancing tied back the MSTP load-balancing at Layer 2.
A brief example of the configuration on VLAN 20 of both 5800s. 5800B will be Master with higher priority of 110 and the MAC-address of the VIP will be 0000-5e00-0114 with VRID of 20.
